The SBI PO Exam 2025 selection process has three phases.

  • Phase-I is the Preliminary Exam, which is a 1-hour online test with 100 marks, divided into three sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. There’s no sectional cut-off.
  • Phase-II the Main Exam consists of an Objective Test (200 marks) and a Descriptive Test (50 marks). The Objective Test has four sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General Awareness/Banking Knowledge, and English Language. There are sectional cut-offs in this phase.
  • Phase-III includes a Psychometric Test (for personality profiling), a Group Exercise (20 marks), and a Personal Interview (30 marks). Final selection is based on marks obtained in the Main Exam and Phase III, normalized to 100 marks. The Prelims scores are not considered for final selection.

The Preliminary Examination will be conducted online and will consist of an objective test worth 100 marks. The test is divided into three sections, each with a separate time limit:

Selection for Main Examination: A category-wise merit list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination. There will be no sectional cut-off. Approximately 10 times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination from the top of the merit list.

The Descriptive Test is worth 50 marks and has a duration of 30 minutes. It includes tasks on Communication Skills, such as Emails, Reports, Situation Analysis, and Precis Writing.

  • There will be a penalty for wrong answers in Objective Tests.
  • Penalty: 1/4th of the marks for each wrong answer will be deducted.
  • No penalty for unanswered questions.

Sectional Cut-Off / Minimum Qualifying Marks in Main Examination:

  • Each candidate must score a minimum in each test (i.e., Test I, II, III, IV, and the Descriptive Paper).
  • Cut-offs will be decided based on available vacancies, and candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-III.
  • A category-wise merit list will be prepared based on the total marks scored in the Main Examination.
  • Approximately 3 times the number of category-wise vacancies will be shortlisted for Phase-III, provided they meet the minimum aggregate qualifying score decided by the Bank.
  • This phase includes:
    1. Psychometric Test: Personality profiling (No marks assigned but evaluated).
    2. Group Exercise: 20 marks
    3. Personal Interview: 30 marks
  • Candidates need to qualify separately in Phase-II and Phase-III.

Final Selection

  • Marks from the Main Exam and Group Exercise & Interview will be normalized to a score out of 100.
  • Final selection is based on merit ranking in Phase-II and Phase-III.
